From: OKA Eitarou [mailto:eoka@ori.u-tokyo.ac.jp] Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2007 11:06 AM Subject: North Pacific Argo float data: An Important Notice Dear "North Pacific Argo float data set" users, In this March, I noticed you that some floats can have serious offset error. Last month (Oct. 11), Argo Project Office (http://www-argo.ucsd.edu/) made an additional announcement on this issue. They announced that part of the data that can be corrected exactly using automated procedures restarted to be distributed after correction. Therefore, from now on, the monthly data compiled by me can contain data from the "problematic" floats, but they are all corrected and can be used safely. The website for the dataset: http://ocg.ori.u-tokyo.ac.jp/member/eoka/data/NPargodata/ regards, Eitarou > -----Original Message----- > From: OKA Eitarou [mailto:eoka@ori.u-tokyo.ac.jp] > Sent: Friday, March 30, 2007 8:57 AM > Subject: North Pacific Argo float data: A Very Important Notice > > Dear "North Pacific Argo float data set" users, > > In mid-Feb, Argo Project Office (http://www-argo.ucsd.edu/) announced > that pressure values measured by some floats can have serious offset error. > The relevant floats are 287 SOLO-type floats (including those already stopped > their operation) that are equipped with FSI CTD sensor and owned by WHOI. > Although most of these floats were deployed in the Atlantic, 16 of them were > deployed in the Pacific (WMO IDs of all 287 floats are listed in the attached > file "bad_fsi_list.txt").
